Anti Bullying Workshops
Her writings and presentations are at times humorous and always thought provoking. Whether energizing adults to build caring relationships with their students or writing about social issues, Dr. Boone believes in using the arts to impact change. This is perfectly demonstrated in Dr. Boone’s first stage drama, Family Secrets, which focuses on the problem of domestic violence; a problem often overlooked, excused or denied. Family Secrets debuted in the fall of 2013 in Greensboro, NC, to a community of caring citizens made aware of the complex issues surround emotional and psychological abuse and the importance of seeking help.
Breaking the Silence of Bullying is Dr. Boone’s second stage play. For middle and high school students, this drama effectively demonstrates the agony experienced by the victim of bullying and then surprises its audience with an insightful look at the agony experienced by the bully whose life has spun out of control.
Life is Like a Tootsie Roll Lollipop: The Adventures of Sib and Bib is a memory book of Dr. Boone’s childhood growing up in the segregated South during the 50s and 60s. Sometimes serious and sometimes humorous, Dr. Boone looks back over her childhood with memories that define all that is wondrous and enchanting about this fleeting period of time. Each of the twelve creative nonfiction stories is a unique celebration of some aspect of childhood that she hopes will spark a special remembrance for each reader.
